Code of Conduct

The following code of conduct applies to all members of the club, swimmers, coaches, parents and volunteers:


Your Rights:

• Be happy, have fun and enjoy taking part and being involved in swimming
• Be treated fairly by everyone
• Feel safe and secure when taking part in swimming and related activities
• Be listened to and allowed to reply
• Be treated with dignity, sensitivity and respect
• Know that any details about you are treated with confidentiality

Your Responsibilities:

• Respect the rights, dignity and worth of others
• Be fair, considerate and honest in all dealings with others
• Be professional and accept responsibility for your actions
• All members of Mercury Bay Amateur Swimming Club agree to abide by the anti-doping rules.
• Refrain from any form of physical or verbal abuse, harassment, discrimination or victimisation towards others
• Be a positive role model


• Swimmers with long hair who are not wearing a cap must have it tied back (please note that wearing caps and goggles is highly recommended).
• All female swimmers must wear a one piece swim suit (not applicable to Ls 1-3)
• All male swimmers must wear speedos or training suits (not applicable to Ls 1-3)
• Swimmers must bring their own drink bottle, filled with water, to each training session (not applicable to Ls 1-3)
• During the lesson/training disruptive swimmers (or their friends) may be asked to leave the pool area. If the behavior does not improve, parents will be required to stay at the pool for the duration of lesson. Persistent disruptive behavior may result in the swimmer being asked to leave the club.
